There are no wasted moments…
In this fast paced life of ours some of us have forgotten to stop and smell the flowers. We have become obsessed with time and because we feel there is never enough we relegate our experiences in terms of what we believe are the most important.
Is it really a waste to wait in line at the checkout?
Seriously, what were you expecting? Perhaps, that they would see you coming and summon you?
How about while you’re waiting you look around. Perhaps even let the person behind you in front of you. Maybe while you take in the moment you perceive the cashier is having a rough day, you use this time to think of what you could say to put a smile on their face.
There are no wasted moments…
Is the person in front of you walking too slowly and you can’t seem to pass?
Are you thinking, “Why can’t I catch a break?”
Maybe in taking these extra moments there’s an opportunity to see what you wouldn’t have seen had you not been in such a big rush.
Look around you’ll be surprised by what you see.
Who knows maybe it will even turn your frown upside down.
And if you’re looking to feel real good about yourself, stop and hold the door open for the very same person you felt was holding you up
There are no wasted moments…
Perhaps you’re in the process of looking after a parent whose time is short.
From their point of view the time you take to spend with them is so precious.
You’ve been working, looking after your children, running errands and now this; the burden is a heavy one. Perhaps like me, the heaviest you have ever had to carry.
Take this opportunity to savour your time with them for you will not pass this way again.
In the midst of this trial focus on what is beautiful and loving. Take this from someone who has been there and would give anything to be back there, if only for one precious moment.
There are no wasted moments…
One day as I was shopping I spotted the drinking glasses I needed to complete my set. I was overcome with joy; it was totally unexpected to find them.
Crouched down looking into the bottom shelf I contemplated how to get them to the checkout.
Should I risk leaving them there in order to get a buggy or pick them up one at a time? Just then a woman came to my rescue and said she understood my predicament as she had been there.
She kindly stood guard over my treasure while I got the buggy. I was so grateful. I was also reminded about how many times I had extended kindness to a stranger.
When we help others in their moments of need it always comes back to us!
There are no wasted moments…
I have always enjoyed walking in the rain with or without an umbrella.
There is something that comes over me when the raindrops caress my face. I feel the power of life and how wonderful it is to be alive.
Don’t let the rain cause you to hibernate, instead allow the raindrops to beckon you out. Their invitation comes as they hit the windows and the rooftop where you are.
If you will answer their call you will never close the door to walking in the rain or upon occasion even dancing in the rain.
There are many countries in the world where rain is extremely rare. How fortunate we are as we learn to embrace these moments.
There are no wasted moments…
It is possible to feel as though you are lost or living on the backside of the mountain, alone. If you enjoy being around people and the joy that brings this will be particularly hard.
Perhaps somehow it feels like you are in prison, alone, weary and afraid that this sentence will never end. You feel banished somehow, not being able to contribute to society.
I am here to tell you that while it may feel like a death sentence it never lasts. The sun will shine on you again and when it does you will be different.
Contrary to how it has felt you are stronger and wiser. You’ve been renewed coupled with a sense of hope that cannot be taken away from you.
There are no wasted moments…
Everyday that we open our eyes and place put feet on the floor is a reason for celebration. Another chance to get it right, which is an opportunity in disguise.
It is only by making mistakes that we learn how to do it right. If never failed it means we are living beneath what is possible for us to accomplish.
Don’t allow the fear of others to hold you back from living the life you have imagined. Great feats have been accomplished simply because ordinary people refused to give up.
Don’t walk down the middle of the road, choose your lane and keep going.
