The Check Out Line

Is it really a waste of  time to wait in line at the checkout?

We should all be really good at this by now. So why stress out about the wait?

Seriously, what are we expecting? Perhaps, that the cashier would see us in the crowd and summon us?

In our fast paced lives many of us have forgotten how important it is to stop and smell the flowers. We’ve become obsessed with time and because we feel there is never enough, waiting in line can become a major stressor.

What if we were to look at time differently? What if while we’re waiting we look around?

The day we can let the person behind us go first is the day we know the coin has dropped. Now that’s what I call graduation day! That small act of kindness might be the only bit of sunshine that person has seen in a while.

Let’s take the next few moments to look around at people, I mean really look around. Someone else in line, or maybe even the cashier might be having a rough day. Instead of getting frustrated let’s use the next few moments to think of what we could say or do to put a smile on someone’s face.

There are no wasted moments…

There are always flowers for those who want to see them.
