Please tell me you aren’t one of “those” people. You know, the kind of person who is afraid to fail, therefore afraid to try, therefore wants you to know you failed yet again. Years ago I had someone in authority tell me I only had one more chance to fail. I felt beat up at the time but I remember thinking, one more chance, are you kidding? Of course I didn’t say that but I sure was thinking it!
What’s The Problem?
The problem was I had already read too many books on the subject of failing and had come to the conclusion that failure was going to be a part of my success. I guess you could say failure may be the precursor to success, it just doesn’t look like it at the time.
The books in my library seemed to egg me on to trying new things and oh no heaven forbid perhaps another failure. Oops…
In My Library
- The Power of Failure by Charles C. Manz
- Failing Forward by John C. Maxwell
- The Desert Experience by Co-Authors
- God has a Dream for your Life – Sheila Walsh
- David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell
- Act like a Success Think Like a Success by Steve Harvey
- And one of my personal favourites…
- Curious George by Margaret and H.A. Rey’s
Truthfully there are so many more I want to read.
If you were stranded on a deserted island who would you want to be with? Oh I can hear your wheels turning and none of what I’m hearing would be helpful to this blog. OK, let me rephrase the question, if you needed help who would you call?
Would it be someone who had been afraid to fail and lived extremely cautiously or someone who had failed. Keep in mind they had learned something new and kept getting back up and into the game of life? I think by now you can probably guess who I would choose. The question is, who would you choose?
Failure
These are not wasted moments…
The road of failure can be a lonely one but it is full of glorious achievements and adventures. Don’t walk down the middle of the road, choose your lane and keep going.
Don’t allow peoples’ opinions of your life to hold you back from living the life you had imagined. Don’t be afraid of trying new things and most of all don’t be afraid of failure. If you have never failed then perhaps you are living beneath what is possible for you to accomplish.
“Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.”
Winston Churchill
